Compression Testing

XRAY ENGINEERING INC. performs compression testing of concrete core samples to determine their strength and integrity. This photos depicts a concrete core sample that has been compression tested  to determine its compressive strength.  Based on the test results it was determined that the concrete strength was adequate for the design requirements.

In this instance a retrofit of the structure required the concrete to meet a certain design strength for new equipment being loaded onto the slab.

On a similar project related to compression testing, our teams performed critical  testing for Sutter Hospital where administrators were adding a Magnetic Resonance Imaging station to the hospital.  Before the manufacturer of the MRI machinery would warrant its equipment, they required the concrete slab where this equipment would be installed to undergo compression testing to insure the slab could withstand the additional weight and force of the new machinery.  Our services provided this information as our engineers are able to thoroughtly evaluate the slab prior to drilling so as not to compromise the existing structural reinforcement or hospital utilities.
