XRAY IMAGING
X-ray imaging is used to evaluate just about anything you can imagine. We are all familiar with going to the Dentist or Doctor or even going through Airports.
X-ray Engineering Inc. "XRE", applies this technology to evaluate the weld quality or cracks in Structural Steel and Piping weldments, or to see if there is Corrosion or blockage developing that you cannot see in Pipes or broken Valves that are not opening or closing. It is also used to evaluate Circuit Boards for electrical wire disconnects. It's used in Forensic Investigations to determine the cause of fire.
XRE, also uses it to take a look at embedded elements in concrete. With an X-ray there is no guessing about what you're looking at. You can see if the image that has been detected by Radar, Sonar, or Ferro Scanning is actually Rebar, PT Cables, Conduit, Wire Mesh or some other elements that cannot otherwise be detected.
XRE, uses Radioactive Isotopes, "Gamma Rays" specifically Iridium 192.It is used when two sides of the component or structure is accessible. X-ray film is carefully placed on one side of the object and the Radio-active source on the other .The radiation then passes through the object creating an image on the film. The film is then developed and a permanent image can be evaluated or maintained for future use. When used in field (off-site), XRE needs to be able to establish a control area, an area that only Authored XRE Personal have access to. This is so that no one can get accidently exposed to unnecessary radiation. This technology is completely safe and is regulated by government for proper use. There is no residual radiation or contamination from the use of this technology.
XRE, does not recommend X-Ray Imaging on concrete that is greater than fourteen inches in thickness

GROUND PENETRATING RADAR
Is used for Sub-Surface imaging, GPR is Electro-magnetic energy "EM" it is used for the inspection of concrete, sand, wood, and asphalt etc. EM energy is transmitted through materials and is subject to attenuation (natural absorption). When used properly it is a great technology for locating Embedded Elements like Rebar, PT Cables, Conduit, etc. Metal targets reflect bright reflection as opposed to non-ferrous material only reflecting energy. Metal as thin as foil or a tight mesh is impenetrable and you will not see beneath it. It will also penetrate several feet into the sub-surface allowing you to look deep into the surface you are inspecting.
XRE, applies GPR in locating embedded elements in Concrete, Underground Utilities, Unmarked Gravesites or Terra-Search Formations.

Ferro Scanning
Is capable of detecting near surface metal targets in concrete and masonry with relatively accurate and fast results.

Concrete Core Drilling
XRE, also provides concrete core drilling, but only when it is critical that an Embedded Structural or Electrical Element cannot be compromised. We will also provide this service when the core sample needs to be carefully handled and removed for laboratory testing and evaluation or in the case of forensic analysis.
XRE, also works with Concrete Cutting and Coring Contractors to assist them in their efforts to avoid compromising the structural integrity of structures and safety of their personal.
